What I love about looking at Paula Lycan‘s work is its ability to travel through time. These photos feel incredibly contemporary, depicting queerness in a way that is both sensitive  and political. But there are also references to the early beginnings of queer photography, the textural and sensual darkroom prints of people like Peter Hujar.
