The (In)Organic PH21 Gallery Budapest, |
The organic and the inorganic shape our world, forming the essence of both natural landscapes and human-made environments. Their dynamic interaction – whether in harmony or contrast – defines our visual and conceptual experiences. The (In)Organic exhibition invites photographers to explore these dualities: the natural and the artificial, the living and the inanimate, the spontaneous and the constructed. Through photography, we seek to reveal the aesthetic, symbolic, and conceptual dialogues between these realms. From the human body to vast landscapes, from architectural structures to intimate interiors and still lifes, the exhibition welcomes both representational and abstract works that challenge, redefine, and reimagine the boundaries between organic and inorganic forms. |

Out of the ordinary PH21 Gallery Budapest, |
Out of the ordinary is often characterised as strange, unusual, odd, peculiar, bizarre, uncanny, weird, mysterious, or even surreal. Subjects, scenes, themes, perspectives, compositions, portrayed events, visual experiences, and imaginative narratives may all deviate from the ordinary. Photographers often step into the realm of the extraordinary through the lens of their camera, embracing the unconventional, where the peculiar dances with the mysterious, and the odd intertwines with the surreal. They explore the realms of strange, unusual, and uncanny. Some venture into the world of traditional straight photography, where authenticity captures the essence of the outlandish. Others delve into staged photography, where each frame unfolds a narrative beyond the ordinary, or embrace the art of photomontage, seamlessly blending disparate elements to craft a visual tapestry of uniqueness. AI-generated photo-based images offer a digital canvas to manifest the bizarre and create a fusion of reality and imagination. This exhibition celebrates the diversity of perspectives that redefine the ordinary and elevate the extraordinary. The photographer’s lens is the gateway to a realm where the peculiar becomes art, the bizarre transforms into beauty, and the unconventional takes centre stage. |

The Portrait Praxis Photo Arts Center Minneapolis, MN |
The essence of great photographic portraiture goes beyond technical proficiency; it involves capturing the subject in a way that is emotionally resonant, visually compelling, and communicates a deeper understanding of the individual. In her book, Portraits and Persons, writer Cynthia Freeland describes three essential elements that constitute a portrait: “(1) a recognizable physical body (2) an inner life, i.e., some sort of psychological or mental states and (3) self-presentation, or the “posing.” Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographs that celebrate the aesthetic and conceptual considerations involved in the creation of the portrait: revealing personal narratives or new anthologies through the artistic representation of the subject. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission. |

It’s a time when growth, renewal, and a fresh start invites us to reflect on our own moments of rebirth. We invite you to share your interpretations of these themes—whether through a celebration of nature, an exploration of spirituality, or a deeply personal revelation during a unique journey, or simply spending time to reflect during one’s solitude… |

The Contemporary Portrait SE Center For Photography Greenville, SC |
The Portrait. We use portraits as objects of remembrance and reverence, of seduction and glorification. From the keepsakes in lockets as tiny remembrances of love, to the likenesses of leaders meant to inspire and seduce with their power. Our juror, Aline Smithson, is a visual artist, educator, and editor based in Los Angeles, California. Best known for her conceptual portraiture and a practice that uses humor and pathos to explore the performative potential of photography. Growing up in the shadow of Hollywood, her work is influenced by the elevated unreal. She received a BA in art from the University of California at Santa Barbara and was accepted into the College of Creative Studies, studying under artists such as William Wegman, Allen Ruppersburg, and Charles Garabian. After a decade-long career as a New York Fashion Editor, Smithson returned to Los Angeles and to her own artistic practice. 5-40 selected images will hang in the SE Center’s virtual gallery space for approximately one month. In addition, selected images are featured in the SE Center social media accounts (FB, IG, Twitter) and an archived, online slideshow. Motion PH21 Gallery Budapest, |
Photography is a medium of still images; it cannot create the illusion of motion the way moving images such as film, video, or cartoons can. The static nature of the image itself, however, has never prevented photographers from putting motion in the centre of their endeavours. In addition to freezing the moment, they often strive to capture movement and the passing of time in a variety of other ways as well. The fragile moment might be disrupted by showing the sweeping power of motion. Capturing motion is never a given in photography because it is not a default option of the medium. Depicting or expressing motion is a welcome challenge for photographers; it is also the source of some of the most creative images in diverse photographic genres. |
