HELP SUPPORT LOS ANGELES PHOTOGRAPHERS!
LENSCRATCH is partnering with photo l.a. to create a fundraiser to help Los Angeles photographers recover after losing EVERYTHING. We have gathered a list that is growing each day. To donate go HERE
In recent days, we’ve witnessed the heartbreaking devastation of neighborhoods across Los Angeles—communities that many photographers call home—destroyed by an unprecedented Santa Ana wind-driven fire event.
Our urgent goal is to raise $300,000 to provide direct support to photographers who have lost their homes and/or studios in the Eaton, Palisades, Sunset, and other fires in the Los Angeles area. We know many of you are looking for ways to make a direct and meaningful impact.
For over 30 years, photo l.a has supported the photography and arts community. LENSCRATCH has been helping photographers for over 18 years globally. Both organizations are based in Los Angeles and we look forward to supporting the community during this difficult time, working with you to this end.
To achieve this goal, we are gathering information from multiple sources to identify photographers/artists in need. If you have experienced severe damage or a total loss of your home, studio, or essential personal property, please reach out to us.
We are committed to distributing funds and contributions to those most affected by these fires, prioritizing based on need. Together, we can help rebuild and support the photographers who are vital to our creative community.
In an effort to support the LA community and photographers affected by the devastating fires, the Los Angeles Center of Photography will host a Photography Equipment Drive on February 15, 2025 at their DTLA home.
They will be collecting donations of photography gear to help those in need within our community to rebuild their creative passions and livelihoods. If you have gently used or extra equipment that could help, please consider donating. More info @ lacphoto.org
They have also been collating and sharing resources for the community through their social platform and newsletters, and will continue to do so.
Thinking further about resources and ways for us to support the community in the coming weeks, Peter Bennett will host a free webinar about preserving photographs (which will also be shared via our YouTube channel as a resource), and they are working with Eric Josephs to offer free printing sessions for impacted photographers.
The Los Angeles Center of Photography is here to support our community for the long haul, and they have been in touch with many faculty, members and community partners who have been impacted. As conditions on the ground and the needs continue to change, they will further evaluate and offer more avenues for support.
