Russell Joslin
Russell Joslin, the intelligent, discerning, and visionary owner, editor and publisher of SHOTS Magazine, has brought what was once a friendly cut-and-paste publication into the 21st century with international submissions, thought provoking interviews, and dare I say it, much improved paper stock!
Master Joslin works exclusively in the genre of self portraits, most recently moving into color. He lives and works in Minneapolis and comes from a family of artists and sculptors. Russell is an imposing figure, often seen at portfolio reviews, but under that Johnny Cash-meets-Kojak exterior, he has a terrific sense of humor and a sense of what is beautiful and meaningful.
“Photographer Russell Joslin has been the sole Editor and Publisher of Shots since 2000 following the tenures of Robert Owen, and founder Dan Price. Since then, Russell has interviewed nearly 50 photographers for the pages of Shots ranging from emerging photographers to established masters. In addition to his duties directly related to the creation of Shots, he has served as a reviewer at the photography festivals FotoFest (Houston), Photolucida (Portland), PhotoNOLA (New Orleans) and Positive Focus (NYC). Russell has also acted as a juror for a number of photography competitions and has curated photography for exhibition.”
