4 Evenings with Fine Art Photographers
Three years ago, I wanted to create a lecture series just for Fine Art Photographers living in Los Angeles. I had been to plenty of lectures by terrific fashion and commercial photographers, but there were very few lectures by photographers making the kind of work I wanted to know more about. I started off with six photographers that I admired: Stephen Berkman, Eileen Cowin, Gil Garcetti, Ann Elliott Cutting, David Newsom, and Melanie Pullen. I learned so much and the following year included Hiroshi Watanabe, Mona Kuhn, Douglas McCulloh, and Whitney Hubbs. I am excited about this year’s line-up, and if you live in LA, I hope you can make it to some of these wonderful lectures.
Four Evenings with Fine Art Photographers,
Hosted by Aline Smithson
Tierney Gearon on March 25th, Jay Mark Johnson on April 29, Robbert Flick on May 20th, Susan Anderson on June 17th
Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 pm
A & I Photo Lab
933 N. Highland Ave, Hollywood, CA 90038
The series kicks off with a lecture by Tierney Gearon on March 25th. Tierney’s authentic and ingenuous images of her children, and more recently, her mother, have set the bar for unflinchingly veracious truth telling. In addition to her own work, the documentary: Tierney Gearon: The Mother Project, revealed Tierney’s ability to be a remarkable participant observer.
Please join us for this terrific series. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 (students $10) and the series can be purchased in advance through the Julia Dean Photo Workshops for $35
