Billy Hunt
Looking at photographers from Review LA…
It’s not often that you meet a photographer whose work makes you laugh out loud. It was indeed a pleasure to spend time with the talented Billy Hunt during the reviews. Part Napoleon Dynamite, part Virginian hipster, Billy is drawn to the quirky and off kilter. He has a thriving photography and video studio in Charlottesville, Virginia where he creates portraits and videos, captures weddings, and finds time for his personal imagery. Billy is responsible for Center’s new video promotions and he sees a strong connection between the still and moving image as the future of a successful photographic business. His clients include The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, More Magazine and numerous others.
I am sharing images from the three bodies of work that he brought to the reviews, CLAW, White People Dancing, and Baby Landscapes.
With his series, CLAW, Billy documents the growing popularity for the Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers and the animated audience participation.
Images from CLAW (Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers)
Taking a clue from Elaine’s terrible dance moves on Seinfeld, Billy’s images reflect self expression at it’s most embarrassing.
Images from White People Dancing
Combining images created by his son, with portraits in local landscapes, Billy has created wonderful worlds that combine imagination and reality.
