Marcia Molnar: The Silence of Winter
With Christmas just around the corner, I thought it would be inspiring to share the work of Marcia Molnar—work that so beautifully evokes a winter wonderland I can only dream about in Los Angeles. Molnar’s photographic practice focuses on the natural world, ranging from well observed abstractions to expansive landscapes that hold both vast vistas and elemental detail. Appreciating the gifts of the natural world at this moment in time feels especially meaningful, as an act of attention, gratitude, and quiet reverence.
Marcia Molnar is a photographic artist based out of the mountains in Boone, North Carolina. She received her BA in Biology in 1986 and subsequently became a Physician Assistant in 1997. She started her journey in photography in 1998. Her studies and experiences in the medical field have guided her toward photographing many aspects of nature and abstracts that reflect the lessons learned from her many interactions with patients. Her work has been displayed in multiple group exhibits in the United States.

I find joy in photographing nature. It is in part a restorative process for me. It offers peace and solace from those pressures and experiences of working in the medical field , as well as those I experience in my own life.
Through my lens, I seek out poetic moments that reaffirm the elemental beauty and enduring character of my environment. I appreciate the surprises that I encounter when taking time to see the unseen. – Marcia Molnar
