We in the photography world are, in a sense, a family. We follow each other on facebook, twitter, instagram and tumblr, celebrate successes, buy each others’ books and photographs, know who has had a birthday or a baby or who is traveling to somewhere interesting. Once in awhile, a member of the family has a personal crisis and needs support.

If you have ever heard of Rhubarb, Rhubarb, a photo festival in the UK, you might be familiar with its founder, Rhonda Wilson. She is an integral part of the photographic arts community, not just locally in Birmingham (UK), but nationally and internationally. She was acknowledged for her work in the 2005 Queen’s New Year’s Honour’s List, by being awarded an MBE for her ‘services to photography and international trade’. She has been a huge help to so many people over the years, helping them to achieve their goals and reach for their dreams.

For the past three years she has struggled to deal with a serious and severe illness. Rhonda is now recovering well and is expected to re-enter the world of work and public life in the next six months. Unfortunately—just when she is beginning to see light, at the end of what’s been a very dark tunnel—she is facing personal financial ruin, including losing her home.

Debra Klomp Ching , Peggy Sue Amison from the Sirius Arts Centre, Rhonda’s husband John McQueen, Alessandra Capodacqua and Ken Rosenthal are spearheading an Indiegogo campaign with a 20,000 pound goal. They appealing to all the friends and photography colleagues that know, admire and care about Rhonda, to help her out in her final quest back to health and to give her the financial and moral support she needs to get back to work, doing what she does best. The campaign ends in a week, Sat.
