Suzanne Revy
continuing to look at photographers from Photolucida
It was great to put a face to a body of work, and meeting Suzanne Revy at Photolucida was indeed a pleasure. Her series, Small Wonders has been celebrated as a Critical Mass finalist, with a show at the Griffin Museum, selected for a number of group shows, and appears on Flak Photo today.
Suzanne is a Massachusetts photographer, and her beautiful silver gelatin images have all of the characteristics of my own Yankee relatives: smart, unfussy and without fanfare, with a reverence for nature and a way of seeing the world that is simple and complex at the same time. Suzanne’s universal photographs of her sons reveling in the wonder of discovery and being at ease in the outside world are appealing on so many levels.
