Melania Comoretto
Pete Brook, editor and writer for the Prison Photography blog, has
got me thinking about and looking at prision imagery in a way that, truthfully, was never something I considered in a significant way. Pete recently sent me the wonderful work by Melania Comoretto. This work, Women in Prisons, takes a look at how women incarcerated in two Italian prisons, attempt to retain their femininity. Pete has a great interview with Melania on his blog.
Melania is a freelance Italian photographer, specializing in documentary photography. She was born in Italy and studied at the International Center of Photography in New York. She also collaborates with a variety of magazines and cultural foundations, and has a broad range of terrific work.
